Midori & Friends provides instrument and vocal music instruction and students perform in schools and at community-based organizations. Midori evaluated its program and found that there were significant variations in quality across school programs, which caused inconsistent lesson plans from school to school. Midori proposes to hire a consultant to help it develop arts curricula that will align its music instruction with best practices in music education and with the Common Core standards. The consultant will also develop and lead training for Midori’s corps of teaching and performing artists to fit with the new curricula.
Midori & Friends provides a variety of music education to New York City children and teens in 35 public schools and community agencies.
