Edible Schoolyard New York (ESYNYC) partners with New York City public schools to provide students in 3K-8th grades with culturally relevant, hands-on cooking and gardening experiences that empower youth to make healthy food choices. ESYNYC aims to be a safe space for students to de-stress, re-focus, and build self-confidence, but the organization currently lacks the training and resources to foster social-emotional learning or implement trauma-informed instructional practices. With this grant, ESYNYC will identify best practices and frameworks for social-emotional learning and trauma-informed instruction, integrate this knowledge in lessons and curriculum, and train frontline staff to put it into practice.
This grant will help Edible Schoolyard New York improve its education programming.
