To support a program that trains middle and high school students to serve as informal science educators in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden of the New York Botanical Garden. Students complete a formal training program that consists of instruction in basic botany, environmental science, gardening/horticulture, and leadership/teamwork skills. The Intern Explainers then make themselves available to visitors to explain the permanent and changing exhibitions, lead inquiry-based games and activities, and perform demonstrations.
