Hour Children provides services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children to help them successfully rejoin society. Hour Children wants to improve its child care programs, which provide youth ages 5 to 16 with a safe space, homework help, and enrichment activities, such as a theater program. The organization wants to add a structured academic component to its child care program. The first enhancement will introduce a professional academic tutorial service that will provide one-on-one tutoring to participants during the school year. The second enhancement will add small-group reading and mathematics instruction to participants in the summer camp program.
This grant will allow Hour Children to improve its child care programs by adding personal tutoring and small-group instruction for participating youth.
