LGBT Live Out Loud partners with schools, parents, and community organizations to provide programs for LGBTQ+ youth to foster community and learn LGBTQ+ history and advocacy. Their School Program partners with Gender Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) in over 32 New York City middle and high schools. Live Out Loud representatives attend GSAs on a monthly basis to facilitate a comprehensive, identity-affirming curriculum focused on LGBTQ+ topics. Based on feedback from students and staff, LGBT Live Out Loud will use this grant to redevelop their School Program curriculum to strengthen its behavioral theory framework and incorporate additional modules focused on social justice and action. Staff will work with an external consultant to create a curriculum that reflects what students are interested in learning.
