Free Arts NYC plans to improve its core programs, which provide creative arts and mentoring for at-risk youth in New York City, by enhancing volunteer recruitment, retention, and diversity. To accomplish this, Free Arts will hire a Volunteer Coordinator, who will recruit new volunteers from neighborhoods in which Free Arts offers programming. The coordinator will also plan appreciation events and other activities to improve communication, morale, and retention rates among current and new volunteers. Free Arts will also plan and implement extensive training to help volunteers work more effectively with program participants.
