WHEDco wants to improve the after-school programs it operates at several elementary and middle schools in the South Bronx. Services provided at these programs include academic support, arts enrichment, leadership development, health activities, and individual or group counseling. The focus of the improvement is to strengthen and standardize staff training across all sites, which will include lesson plan development, instructional delivery, classroom management, communications, and relationship building between staff and students. WHEDco proposes to engage a consultant to develop a training curriculum for supervisory staff to improve coaching to frontline staff, and for frontline staff to improve their interactions with participants.
This grant will support the development of standardized training for frontline staff across Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation’s (WHEDco) multiple sites.
