This award will help the Foundation evaluate its investments in California’s after-school programming. Piha will develop a paper with two purposes. First, he will provide a snapshot California’s current after-school funding and activities since the passage of Prop 49, which increased funding for the After School Education and Safety Act from $121 million to $550 million. Next, he will identify the knowledge, practice, and policy gaps that still exist in the California after-school movement. Piha will interview the heads of large after-school organizations, foundations, and after-school networks to inform the paper.
