LGBTQ+ Inclusive Youth Development Training Project

Fresh Youth Initiatives’ improvement plan will train frontline staff in supporting LGBTQ+ participants.

Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI) provides academic, wellness, college preparatory, and career support services to the Washington Heights community. FYI’s middle school after-school program provides academic and social-emotional development for 160 students. Staff have reported needing more training to assist students who may seek support for gender- and sexuality-related topics. In response, FYI will hire an LGBTQ Equity and Community Specialist to develop a curriculum and deliver training to frontline staff to address their needs.

Work-Readiness Refresh: Preparing New York City’s Youth for the New World of Work

With this grant, Futures and Options will refresh their curriculum to ensure that students succeed in the post-pandemic workforce.
