Mentoring and Career Development: 2013 Fletcher and Padrón

The William T. Grant Scholars Mentoring Grant was designed to support the professional development of William T. Grant Scholars and help more researchers of color reach higher levels on the career ladder.

Jason Fletcher, William T. Grant Scholars class of 2017, is an associate professor at Yale University. His mentee, Norma Padron, is a Latina doctoral student at the Yale School of Public Health. Fletcher will provide guidance for Padron as she completes her dissertation, which focuses on the effects of parental job loss on children’s health investments and outcomes. Through this award, they hope to enhance her methodological and analytical skills, publication record, and professional networks. Dr. Fletcher has accepted an appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as associate professor. He will start there this fall, and Padron will join him.
