Middle Grades Improvement Project

Among THE POINT’s after-school offerings is the Middle Grades Program, which currently consists of the ICP at the POINT (a photography program) and a more comprehensive program that provides homework help and arts and recreation.

Among THE POINT’s after-school offerings is the Middle Grades Program, which currently consists of the ICP at the POINT (a photography program) and a more comprehensive program that provides homework help and arts and recreation. Staff have experienced difficulty recruiting and retaining participants for the comprehensive program component and believe this is because activities are too similar to those in the Early Grades Program. To engage adolescents, THE POINT plans to implement Real Stories: Real Teens, an age-appropriate curriculum that promotes reading and reflection and provides opportunities for youth to design their own activities.
