The Taproot Foundation Service Grant Sponsorship and General Operating Support

As an extension of the Foundation’s Youth Service Improvement Grants program, this small grant provides capacity-building support to youth-serving organizations in our local community.

Funds were given for the Summer Matters Initiative, a public-private partnership of New York City youth grantmakers and the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development.

The Taproot Foundation will provide capacity-building services for five New York City-based grantees of the Foundation’s Youth Service Improvement Grants program.

Opening Act wants to improve its after-school programs, which are offered to both students in public schools with lower than average graduation rates and those in alternative high schools after previously facing court involvement, incarceration, homelessness, or teen pregnancy.

Wants to improve its Fellows program, which provides services to New York City youth from the summer after 10th-grade through college graduation.
