Mentoring and Career Development: 2013 Keels, Durkee, and Hope

The William T. Grant Scholars Mentoring Grant was designed to support the professional development of William T. Grant Scholars and help more researchers of color reach higher levels on the career ladder.

Micere Keels, William T. Grant Scholars class of 2017, is an associate professor at the University of Chicago. She will use this award to mentor two African-American scholars. Myles Durkee and Elan Hope recently received their doctoral degrees and this award will support them as postdoctoral fellows. Their joint research activities will focus on examining the effects of campus gender imbalance on the development of male and female college students. Keels will work with her mentees to strengthen their publication records, broaden their professional networks, and improve their presentation skills.
