This grant supports the launch and engagement activities for Next Generation Evidence: Strategies for More Equitable Social Impact, a book assembled by Kelly Fitzsimmons of Project Evident. Fitzsimmons founded Project Evident in 2017 to help organizations harness the power of data, research, and other sources of evidence for greater impact in the social and education sectors. Consistent with the Foundation’s focus on improving the use of research evidence, Next Generation Evidence emphasizes the importance of engaged research by highlighting the critical role that evidence plays in helping practitioners make decisions that reflect the needs of their communities. Funded activities will include a roundtable event held at the Foundation to convene the book’s authors as well as funders, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers in the use of research evidence space. Project Evident will also produce a series of co-branded, virtual “fireside chats” with the authors to extend the reach of the themes discussed at the roundtable. By partnering with Project Evident on these outreach activities, the Foundation elevates topics that align with our interest in improving the usefulness and use of research evidence in ways that benefit youth in the United States.
