Consistent with the Foundation’s focus on strengthening research-practice connections, the journal translates social science research into information that is useful to policymakers and practitioners. Foundation funds will be used to support the production and dissemination of a volume synthesizing research on military families and children. Military and civilian researchers will collaborate to write the chapters. Practitioners and policymakers will provide feedback to authors and editors to ensure that each chapter addresses topics that are relevant to them. Intermediary organizations will aid in disseminating the volume. “Children and Military Families” will be released in fall 2013.
The journal Future of Children is developing a volume to better understand the needs of children in military families and the policies and practices that promote their well-being. The journal is a joint project of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and the Brookings Institution.
