This randomized study will include all 37 elementary schools in the Worchester, Massachusetts Public School District. Half of the schools will be randomly selected to use Making Meaning along with other resources to teach reading comprehension; the other half will serve as a control group that will only use resources other than Making Meaning. Student tests, teacher surveys, periodic classroom observations, and an annual student questionnaire survey will be used to assess the effects of the program.
