Developing Artists Theater Company (DA) empowers underrepresented youth from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds to fight for positive social change through the practical application of the performing arts. By offering comprehensive, free performing arts education, DA helps young people use their creative expression for advocacy and personal growth, fostering a generation of artists and activists who champion empathy, creativity, and leadership. Of particular relevance to the YSCG program is the rigorous theater education offered to students (aged 13-18) in underserved high schools in the New York City metropolitan area. While DA has grown significantly in recent years, limited Board engagement in fundraising and a lack of sustainable fundraising infrastructure is holding them back from reaching more youth. This grant would include board recruitment and trainings, board-led fundraising campaigns and events, and eventually hiring a Development Director to build sustainable fundraising infrastructure that supports DA’s long-term growth.
