When a school’s principal changes, what are the effects on teacher engagement and student achievement? What factors are associated with a successful transition?

The investigators will document if and how research evidence is used by child welfare agencies to make clinical and administrative decisions.

This study will focus on the Afterschool Program Practices Tool (APT) and the influence of two persistent sources of variation in ratings—different raters and different occurrences (e.g., when the site is observed).

This study will compare the association between particular tests and teacher instruction or student performance. Different assessments may reveal important differences in patterns of learning across classrooms and schools.

The investigators will examine the relationship between supportive classroom environments and positive youth development and analyze participants’ perceptions of classroom environment and how the differences relate to student academic and social development across early adolescence.

Morris and her colleagues will leverage data from an existing randomized control trial of a conditional cash transfer program—Opportunity New York City-Family Rewards Program (ONYC)—to examine if and how income instability affects family processes and youth school outcomes.

This study will investigate the role of intermediaries in conveying research evidence in support of college completion, ways research evidence is used, and the extent to which policymakers rely on intermediaries.

This grant will tackle the persistent challenge of whether residence in disadvantaged neighborhoods leads to economic disadvantage.
