How do disciplinary practices in schools affect inequality, particularly on the basis of race and gender?

How can school discipline approaches be improved to reduce racial inequality and be more developmentally appropriate for adolescents?

What practices reduce the harmful effects of discrimination experienced by racially and economically diverse adolescents with LGBTQ parents?

The partnership will respond to increasing rates of opioid abuse and child maltreatment in low-income, rural communities in upstate New York.

Kraft will use this award to develop his ability to mentor junior scholars, help junior scholars make strategic choices between multiple research opportunities, and gain a stronger sense of the career development issues facing junior colleagues of color.

Hibel will use this award to improve his ability to “mentor the whole person” by providing academic supports, access to material resources, financial support for conferences, and opportunities to connect with other scholars

Doane will use this award to develop strategies to mentor junior scholars of color and supervise the advancement of their research, while also guiding them towards scholarly independence.

This award will support production of a documentary film, tentatively titled Studying Hungry, which will explore solutions to the issue of food insecurity on college campuses.

Destin will use this award to cultivate a culture among his mentees that incorporates collaboration and interpersonal sharing so that individuals can bring their whole selves into their work.

This award will continue the Foundation’s support for the Bipartisan Policy Center to encourage the implementation of the Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking’s recommendations, which were issued in September 2017.
