The Symposium is designed to give OST researchers exposure to robust theories and methods to inform research design and analysis. Up to 75 participants will have the opportunity to learn from established researchers in the field, all of whom have used theory to inform their own work. Presenters at the Symposium will introduce promising theories such as social capital theory, flow theory, and life course theory, among others. The focus of the symposium will be on how theories shape research design and methods.
Support was given for a special symposium and reception for out-of-school time (OST) researchers at the 2009 American Educational Research Association Conference.
