Capturing Their Attention: Effective Online Research Abstracts for a Policy Audience

Which of the different dimensions of research abstracts are most likely to capture the attention of policymakers?

This project experimentally examines the importance of different dimensions of research abstracts, including the clarity of the language, the attractiveness of the format, the “punch” of the message, and the quality of the research. The investigators will review prior research on this topic and will interview policy experts (legislative aides, advocates and journalists) regarding their preferences.
