College Bound

New Heights Youth wants to improve its College Bound program, which provides academic, college preparation, and basketball programming to 200 students.

College Bound participants are not currently receiving adequate subject-specific academic and standardized test preparation, which was discovered when 41 percent of its high school participants performed poorly (C or below) in math- and science-related subjects. The applicant believes that early intervention—identifying and assisting underperforming students—will better address the students’ needs. To accomplish this, New Heights wants to hire experienced math, science, and SAT preparation tutors, update teaching materials, and purchase software to track student grades and program enrollment.
