The William T. Grant Foundation’s focus on reducing inequality grew out of our view that research can do more than help us understand the problem of inequality—it can generate effective responses. Our program of research grants on reducing inequality supports studies to build, test, or increase understanding of programs, policies, or practices to reduce inequality in the academic, social, behavioral, or economic outcomes of young people ages 5-25 in the United States. We prioritize studies that aim to reduce inequalities that exist along dimensions of race, ethnicity, economic standing, language minority status, or immigrant origins.
In this webinar, from February 2023, Senior Program Officer Jenny Irons and President Adam Gamoran discuss the background and goals of the program, provide an overview of eligibility details, required materials, and review criteria, and share practical advice on how to prepare a competitive letter of inquiry.
