The goal of the meeting is to promote multi-directional understanding among those who produce child development research and those who use it to inform policy and practice. The meeting will be capped at 225 people in order to facilitate interactions among established researchers, early-career scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates. Key topics will include understanding the use of research evidence, methods of policy-relevant research, the role of government in policy-related research, and forging a policy-relevant career. The call for applications strongly encourages participation by policymakers and practitioners as presenters, co-authors, or discussants. The Foundation’s award will support the travel of practitioners, policymakers, and early-career scholars of color—all groups that are traditionally underrepresented at these meetings.
This grant will support the Society for Research in Child Development’s (SRCD) conference on “Strengthening Connections among Child and Family Research, Policy, and Practice.”
